Funding

The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) is available through the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care in Ontario with  a valid health card.

Custom made orthotic devices / braces that are medically prescribed and needed for full time use may be funded through the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).  This program will cover 75% of the total cost of the orthosis and the remaining 25% will be the client’s cost which may be covered through private insurance.  If the client is receiving social assistance from Ontario Works Program (OWP), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), or Assistance to Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD), then ADP will cover 100% of the cost for the approved orthotic device.  The five page long application for funding Orthotic devices can be found on the ADP website (ADP site).  Your prescribing physician should fill in Section 2 (diagnosis) on page 2 and Section 4 (physician signature) on page 5 of the ADP form before your initial assessment with your orthotist.

Private Insurance may also cover some or all of the cost for an orthotic brace.  The client will be responsible to submit the receipts and any necessary forms to their insurance company for reimbursement.

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) may fully fund prescribed orthotic devices / braces  for clients who have had a work related injury.  Orthoticare can assist you in this process and once approval for funding the prescribed orthotic device has been given we will fabricate and fit the appropriate orthosis.

Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services also provides funding for both custom made and off the shelf orthotic devices for clients who are receiving assistance through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), Ontario Works Program (OWP), or Assistance to Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD).

Non-Insured Health Benefits Program (NIHB) is funding that is available to First Nations and Inuit people.
